The Centro Integral del Transporte (CIT) of Metro de Madrid, located on the site of the former Plaza de Castilla depots, is an architectural project that combines modernity with industrial heritage. Designed by Nexo Arquitectura, Gutiérrez-delaFuente Arquitectos and Andrés Perea Arquitecto, the complex brings together offices and services related to transport in the Community of Madrid, while preserving part of the site's historical identity.
In this context, RCR DECO contributed to the project in 2022 by installing continuous flooring in the common areas using Decoflow DRT, a decorative cement-based system with a microterrazzo finish that combines durability, functionality and aesthetics.
The flooring, finished in a light grey tone, creates visual continuity throughout the different spaces and meets the demands of heavy foot traffic typical of a building of this kind. Its finish complements the materials used throughout the project, including concrete, metal and wood, reinforcing the complex's understated and timeless architectural language.
RCR DECO's contribution forms part of an architectural approach that emphasises material coherence and the integration of contemporary construction solutions within a setting with an industrial past. The project also features landscape design by Batlle i Roig Arquitectes, which helps shape the identity of the complex.
Through its involvement in Metro de Madrid's CIT, RCR DECO demonstrates the potential of decorative continuous flooring in large-scale architectural projects, where durability, visual continuity and integration with the overall design are essential considerations.
